Who we are

Coniston Boating Centre is a not-for-profit attraction run by the Lake District National Park Authority. This means all profits go towards keeping it special for future generations.

Our fantastic RYA qualified staff have been helping people enjoy this special spot since 1977. Come and visit Coniston Boating Centre to explore, relax and eat and drink, or book an exciting lake adventure on our motor boats, kayaks, canoes, rowing boats or paddle boards.

Frequently asked questions

Yes! Not a problem, just make sure your 4 legged friend will be happy with what you have booked and that you are competent to manage them in whatever you have booked.

We can get very busy during the holidays so it’s always best to book in advance via our website.

I’m afraid we do not take bookings over the phone, to check availability and to book please use our website.

If the weather deemed unsuitable by the boating centre staff they will contact you to arrange a refund or move it to another date. If you would like to cancel your booking you must do so a minimum of 48 hours in advance to receive a refund. Please read our boat hire terms and conditions.

We will do our best to move any bookings to an alternative slot given enough notice, some days we are fully booked so this isn’t always possible.

Sadly on days where we are fully booked, we may not be able to move your booking so you would lose the time on the water, it’s worth arriving early to get parked and avoid missing your booking!

You must be over 16 to take a single kayak or a paddleboard, if you are under 16 you would have to share a double kayak or a canoe instead.
